Rotary’s “This Close” public awareness campaign, which aims to ramp up support for the effort to eradicate polio, has drawn the participation of celebrities and public figures worldwide — Bill Gates, cochair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu; violinist Itzhak Perlman; actor Jackie Chan; golfer Jack Nicklaus; musicians Angélique Kidjo and Ziggy Marley; and conservationist Jane Goodall, to name a few.
